Alex Crook: Leeds United have made a bid for unknown striker

Leeds United have made a bid for an unknown striker as Jesse Marsch looks to add competition for Patrick Bamford according to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook.

The Leeds boss has made six additions so far this summer but has yet to add a striker to his ranks.

However, Crook has revealed that the Whites do have a bid in at present as Marsch looks to bolster his front line.

Crook told GIVEMESPORT (12 July): “I have been told they’ve got a bid in for an unnamed striker.

“I don’t know who that is, but they want a bit of cover and a bit of competition for Patrick Bamford.”

There is no doubting that Leeds have been extremely active in the transfer window so far this summer, but they surely do need to add a striker to their ranks in the coming weeks.

The Whites are set to receive a cash injection with Raphinha’s transfer to Barcelona very close to being officially announced.

Marsch has already replaced Kalvin Phillips and the 25-year-old Brazilian.

Therefore the American should be focussing all his efforts on investing heavily in competition for Bamford.

It’s important to remember that Bamford is slowly going to decline as he edges out of the prime of his career.

Therefore Leeds signing a new number nine who can make an impact short-term and long-term is a must for the club hierarchy.

There can be complete faith in Victor Orta and Marsch to get a deal over the line when they’ve identified the right player.

It would not be a shock to see a striker be the next arrival at Elland Road.
