Alessandro Barcherini seals sudden Leeds United exit

Goalkeeping coach Alessandro Barcherini has officially left Leeds United as he pens an emotional tribute on social media.

The Italian moved to Elland Road three years ago and oversaw the club’s promotion to the Premier League.

He worked with goalkeepers at all ages which meant that he played a key role in helping Illan Meslier adapt to life in England.

Via Twitter, he shared a four-paragraph farewell and wrote, “It’s time to say goodbye. Thank you for the memories.”

Farewell

Looking at his farewell message, it’s clear that he made a lot of friends during his time at Elland Road and was an influential figure.

Youngster Sean McGurk also showered in with his tribute for the goalkeeping coach and we’re delighted to see him getting the adulation he deserves.

He has not mentioned the reason for his exit, but whatever it may be, we wish him the best of luck with his future endeavours.

It’s good to see that the club stood by him even during the bad times and that sums up what it is to be Leeds United.

The club will now either find a replacement or look to promote from within as it’s an important position.

They could alternatively combine two positions but that might not be the best idea and we’d rather that a specialist is brought in as soon as possible.

In other Leeds United news, a 29-year-old has snubbed interest from Europe to move to Elland Road with the move subject to a work permit.
