Alan Shearer blown away by what Luke Ayling did during Leeds United v Wolves
Alan Shearer has named Luke Ayling in his team of the week after the right-back guided Leeds United to a 3-2 victory over Wolves.
The Englishman scored a rare goal for the Whites and was solid in the second half, posing a real threat down the right wing.
The strike was what caught Shearer’s attention and he made the Team of the Week along with Kristoffer Klaesson.
Writing on the Premier League website, Shearer said, “Superb in the second-half revival and crowned display with the winner.”
Deserves the plaudits
Ayling is a player who goes under the radar, not just for Premier League fans, but for Leeds ones as well.

The Englishman is one of those everpresent cogs in the Whites defence and rarely puts in a foot wrong.
He’s also extremely versatile as he can play as a right-back as well as a centre-back and he feels comfortable in any position he’s deployed.
Marcelo Bielsa truly admired him during his tenure and it seems like he’s starting to win over Jesse Marsch as well.
For someone like Shearer to single him out for praise means that he’s certainly doing something right.
Hopefully, Ayling’s age does not catch up with him and he plays at the top of his game for the next 2-3 seasons.
He’s etched his name in the Elland Road folklore and has already emerged as a fan favourite, not just for his performances on the field but also for how he helps the community off it.
