Alan Shearer admits Leeds United will be very pleased despite 2-0 defeat vs Burnley
Leeds United were beaten by Burnley on Saturday, but Alan Shearer has suggested that the Whites have something to be happy about.
Goals from Lesley Ugochukwu and Loum Tchaouna saw Leeds lose 2-0 to Burnley at Turf Moor, despite enjoying the bulk of the game’s chances.
Jack Harrison, Brenden Aaronson and Jayden Bogle all enjoyed chances to bring the visitors back into contention, but Daniel Farke‘s side were ultimately left goalless and empty-handed.
Aaronson was criticised especially for his miss against Burnley, after the winger’s tame effort allowed Martin Dubravka the chance to turn onto the post.
Leeds were without Noah Okafor to face Burnley, after Farke had confirmed that the winger is facing adductor issues.

Alan Shearer shares silver lining for Leeds
Micah Richards praised Leeds despite their loss to Burnley, and as the pundit explained, there were positives for Farke’s side.
The Whites created a huge amount of chances, and on another day, would have been walking away with three points.
Both Burnley goals came about through moments of pure individual quality, with Kyle Walker’s stunning cross supplying the first, and Tchaouna’s long-range strike a possible goal of the season contender already.
But concern will be laid at the door of the Leeds attack, who failed to convert from any of their four big chances.
Shearer did share a positive for Farke’s team, however, while speaking to BBC Match of the Day on Saturday.
“All three promoted teams are out of the bottom three, so they’ll all be very pleased with their start actually,” the former Newcastle United striker said.
With Burnley’s win over Leeds on Saturday, the Clarets move just a point behind the Whites, and two places behind in 17th.
Sunderland, on the other hand, sit seventh in the Premier League after a sensational start.
Gabriel Gudmundsson among the standouts for Leeds
Gabriel Gudmundsson was another positive for Leeds on the day, with the defender putting in a superb performance.
The Swede completed the most dribbles of any player on the pitch, and created several chances for his teammates.
Gabriel Gudmundsson | Vs Burnley (A) |
Minutes played | 90 |
Accurate passes | 46/56 |
Chances created (big) | 4(1) |
Successful dribbles | 4/5 |
Accurate crosses | 6/13 |

Arriving from Lille in the summer, the 26-year-old had got off to a difficult start to life in the Premier League.
A few months on, however, and Gudmundsson appears adapted already to England’s top flight, and among the standout signings from a busy summer for Leeds.
