Alan Nixon: Leeds United will try for a winger this week
Leeds United are trying to sign a winger before the transfer window closes, claims Sun journalist Alan Nixon.
The Whites have made just two new first-team signings in Kristoffer Klaesson and Junior Firpo this summer, of whom Firpo will be the only one that is a regular in the playing eleven.
However, the Sun reporter believes that the Yorkshire outfit could still do some business before the August 31 deadline.
Nixon has hinted at Leeds moving for a wide player, having himself reported that Manchester United offered Dan James to a host of Premier League clubs.
Only option left?
If at the start of the summer, one was to offer James to Leeds fans, most would’ve turned him down as they believed that Victor Orta would successfully rope in quality additions as he did in the window post promotion.
While tying Jack Harrison to a permanent deal was just as important as getting new players through the door, the Whites side does not look stronger than it did last year.
Yes, Firpo’s arrival at left-back is a welcome one, but Stuart Dallas and Gjanni Alioski did a fairly decent job there and the Spaniard still has to prove himself to be a good fit for Bielsa’s system.

It now seems like the club are running out of options so James’ arrival would be something Bielsa could be open to.
He wanted the Wales international in January 2019, but a failed deadline day switch saw him go back to Swansea.
Now he’s matured and could be ready to break into the Whites’ playing eleven. Given how much the Argentine makes his players run during matches, James could be a decent option to bring off the bench as well.
It will be interesting to see where the Wales international ends up come the end of the window.
