Alan Brazil shares Leeds wage bill claim on talkSPORT, Ray Parlour disagrees

Leeds United’s promotion to the Premier League is expected to have a ripple effect on the team from a financial perspective.

The Whites have secured their status in the top flight of English football with two games to go due to their dominant 6-0 win against Stoke last weekend.

Burnley defeating Sheffield United brought an end to the Blades’ desires for automatic promotion, with the top two now being sealed, regardless of what happens.

Leeds and Burnley are level on points at the top of the Championship, meaning the race for the title is going to go down to the final day of the season, and could very well be determined via goal difference.

Leeds United might already be on the beach

Having the title fight still wide open gives Leeds something to play for in their final two games of the season against Bristol City and Plymouth Argyle.

Both of those matches are set to be important for their opponents, with Bristol City fighting for a place in the playoffs, while Plymouth Argyle are pushing to avoid relegation.

However, Alan Brazil believes that Leeds’ squad might already have their feet up on the sun loungers at the beach in their minds, and therefore won’t be fully invested in their last two matches.

Leeds can go up as Champions

Brazil said on talkSPORT, “It’s difficult isn’t it? You’re up, you’re [in the] Premier League, the old wages have gone up.”

However, his co-host Ray Parlour wasn’t in total agreement, as he believes there is still a job to be done for the Yorkshire giants.

“No, if I was manager I’d be saying, ‘We can have a messy party,’ but let’s win our last two games, because Burnley are going to keep going. You’ve got to become champions,” said the ex-Arsenal star.

Leeds captain Ethan Ampadu has shared similar sentiments to Parlour since the promotion, making it clear that they will be doing everything in their power to win the league to wrap up the season.

Leeds United squad might be fighting for contracts

Just because Leeds have gained promotion, it doesn’t guarantee that every member of the squad will be making that journey to the Premier League.

Daniel Farke will be looking to shape and improve his team, should he remain in charge for next season, which could result in several sales taking place to facilitate new signings.

That places pressure on the squad, who will all be looking to prove they’re worth retaining in the final two fixtures this season.
