Alan Brazil fears for Leeds United promotion chances after what he’s seen

Leeds United missing as many chances as they do could prove costly in the Championship promotion race, Alan Brazil has said.

Speaking on talkSPORT (5 February, 7:40am), Brazil wondered whether the Whites, despite being “exciting” whenever he watches them, are clinical enough in the game they’re expected to win.

Daniel Farke’s side are the highest scorers in the Championship and have the division’s best goal difference by a distance, but have been held to disappointing draws by Burnley and Blackburn in 2025.

Brazil said: “Leeds are so exciting, but [in] the games I think they’re going to score three and four, they don’t – they make a lot of chances but miss a lot of chances, is that going to catch up on them?”

Leeds United can’t do much more in front of goal

Brazil must have missed the Peacocks’ last performance in the second tier, as they went one better than scoring “three and four” in a game by combining the two to thump Cardiff City 7-0 on Saturday (1 February).

With their 60 goals scored 11 ahead of the next-best sides’ tallies of 49 – held by play-off chasing Norwich City and Middlesbrough – and a goal difference of +41, the Whites are well clear of the rest.

That hefty goal difference is not only the best of any side in England’s top four divisions, but is also more than Burnley, sat second behind Leeds in the table, have scored, with just 37 netted by the Clarets so far.

As a result, it’s hard to see where more goals are going to come from at Elland Road, but given their pursuit of another centre-forward late in the transfer window, it’s clear Farke also wants to see more.

It remains to be seen if the Whites – having not strengthened in the market compared to their closest challengers – will have enough to go up at season’s end, but at present, they’re doing just fine.

In other Leeds news, the Whites have made a “massive loss” on one player whose exit was confirmed in the last few days.
