Agents claim made as Leeds United agree fee for Joseph Paintsil transfer

Leeds United have agreed a transfer fee with Genk for the transfer of Joseph Paintsil but his agents are now having issues, according to Ibrahim Sannie Daara.

The former BBC journalist, who founded Ghanasoccernet and Footballghana, among other news websites, reported on Monday (28 August) that the 25-year-old’s agents are unhappy with personal terms being offered.

Footmercato journalist Santi Aouna reported earlier on Monday that the Whites had reached a fee agreement with Genk.

Daara wrote on Twitter, “Ghana 🇬🇭 winger Joseph Paintsil’s proposed move to Leeds Utd has COLLAPSED over the terms offered to his club Genk

“Agents are also unhappy over the personal terms offered the player resulting in the decision to pull out.

“An English club has started talks with Genk.”

Sigh

Leeds cannot afford to botch another transfer just because they’re being stingy in terms of salaries being offered.

If Paintsil is keen on joining, which it seems like he is, it is a big deal as they’re now a second-tier club and not in the Premier League.

He perhaps believes in the project Daniel Farke has sold to him and that’s a positive sign so the board must not let the manager down.

This pursuit could also be down to the fact that Luis Sinisterra could be leaving and he’s been viewed as his replacement this summer.

Hopefully, they manage to keep hold of the Colombian and also sign Paintsil but it remains to be seen if that’s possible.

Clarity is needed quickly on this deal or Leeds can then move on to other transfer targets as soon as possible.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have now emerged as favourites to sign a Premier League player likened to Lionel Messi.
