Agent reveals Leeds United interest in Ethan Ampadu months prior to confirmed transfer news
Ethan Ampadu’s agent has revealed that Leeds United were interested in his client months prior to his confirmed Elland Road transfer.
The Whites confirmed through their official website (19 July), the signing of the Welsh international as the club’s first summer signing after joining from Chelsea in a £7m deal.
And speaking to LUFCFANZONE, as confirmed through their Twitter account (20 July), Amapdu’s agent revealed that they knew of Leeds’ interest early and were in conversations for a while.
He said: “We knew of Leeds’ interest early and were in dialogue with them for a while, and when they informed us of who the manager would be it made perfect sense.
“Leeds beat Premier League, Serie A and Bundesliga clubs to his signature, but Leeds are a huge club and we looked at them as a Premier League club and if all goes to plan the club will be back in the Premier League after this season.”
Under-the-radar
After months of upheaval and uncertainty at Elland Road, it seemed as though Leeds United were already planning ahead for the Championship season for months.
With the Whites embroiled under a impending 49ers Enterprises takeover, coupled with the controversy surround former owner Andrea Radrizzani so soon after relegation, many fans will have been forgiven for thinking what the immediate future will hold at Elland Road.

But with the 49ers now given EFL approval and Amapdu’s arrival, things are now starting to take shape in West Yorkshire and the revelation that the Whites were in talks with Ampadu for months, shows the club have been making promising moves under the radar.
So who knows what the Whites have cooked up next in the transfer market, as new manager Daniel Farke desperately needs a huge squad revamp to ensure his squad is well-prepared and stocked to make a promising start to the campaign.
With the new season just over two weeks away now, Leeds United certainly need to get a move on in their recruitments but signing Ampadu, with his experience both at international level and club level, coupled with his current abilities and potential, the Whites have got off to a spectacular start which only heightens expectations as to what’s ahead in the coming weeks.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites need to sell an “incredible” player first to fund a move for a multi-million European ace.
