Adrian Durham: VAR bringing game into disrepute after Leeds incident v West Ham

Adrian Durham has claimed that VAR is bringing the game into disrepute after Leeds United saw a goal disallowed in their 2-0 loss at West Ham.

Tyler Roberts’ strike was brought back after Helder Costa was adjudged to have been offside, although the angles of VAR were inconclusive.

The talkSPORT host believes that the angles of the cameras aren’t helping anything, with many believing the lines aren’t straight that are used.

Durham responded to an image on his personal Twitter account, claiming that no one should be accepting the technology used.

“This graphic brings the game into disrepute,” he said. “Why is football just accepting this??”

Here we go again.

How many times are we going to have people complain before the Premier League change how VAR is used from St George’s Park?

There are numerous different problems with this latest incident.

The camera isn’t even in line with Costa, and the dotted line up to his knee doesn’t even look straight, so how can there be a conclusive answer?

Costa’s left foot is in line with the back of Cresswell, and his other foot is far behind, so there can’t be that big of a gap between the two players.

This still isn’t as bad as the Patrick Bamford offside call earlier in the season against Crystal Palace, but it proves that this isn’t a one-off.

Different incidents are happening in nearly every single game, and that proves that the technology and people using it are simply incompetent.

Something needs to change, and quick.
