Adrian Durham stunned by Leeds United ‘drama’ v Cardiff live on talkSPORT – ‘Wow’

Adrian Durham was left aghast by Pascal Struijk’s missed penalty during the Leeds United v Cardiff City clash in South Wales.

Leeds were 1-0 up at the time and the centre-back had the chance to put the game to bed but Bluebirds goalkeeper Jak Alnwick managed to save the strike with his feet.

Daniel Farke’s men went on to win the game 2-0 thanks to a late goal from substitute Joel Piroe but it felt like the scoreline could have been much higher.

Speaking live on talkSPORT (21 September, 4:27 pm), Durham was left shocked by what he saw unfold during the game.

“Wow, drama at the Cardiff City stadium,” Durham said. “Cardiff still trail with 10 men”.

Daniel Farke needs to build on this Leeds United win

While Leeds haven’t had the best of starts to their 2024/25 campaign, the club have still managed to find themselves sixth in the table.

The West Yorkshire outfit are currently five points adrift of the league leaders West Brom and have won three of their last five second-tier games.

Those they didn’t manage to get all three points from, however, could be some of the most crucial games of the season.

Farke’s men have lost 1-0 to Burnley and managed to draw 0-0 with the Baggies. Both teams will likely be gunning for a top-six spot by the end of the term so without points in hand against those clubs, Leeds could find themselves in a sticky situation.

Despite coming away with all three points, fans were booing their players [Graham Smyth, 21 September] as the game should’ve been out of sight way before the 87th minute, especially since Erol Bulut’s men were down to 10 men for two-thirds of the fixture.

There has been plenty of pressure growing upon Farke’s head since the start of the season [Ben Jacobs, 20 September] but now the club have gotten back to winning ways, he’ll no doubt want to build on it.

Only time will tell whether Leeds will be able to build on the momentum from their latest win.
