Adrian Durham claims 24-goal forward is 'absolutely made for' Leeds United

Adrian Durham has claimed that Peterborough striker Ivan Toney is “absolutely made for” Leeds United.

The talkSPORT host commented on the forward after it was reported that Brentford had agreed to a deal with the League One club.

He claimed that Toney would prefer a move to the Premier League and cast doubt on that switch going through, something which he believes should spark the Whites’ interest.

Durham believes it would be no risk for Marcelo Bielsa and Leeds to spend only £10million for the striker this summer.

“As I understand it Toney wants to go to the Premier League so this won’t happen right now,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.

“I think the way he plays is absolutely made for Leeds United and £10m is no risk these days. Let’s see…”

Former manager of the Whites, Steve Evans has previously admitted that he could see Toney leading the line at Elland Road.

At only £10million too, the 24-year-old would be a bargain for Leeds who are looking to strengthen in the final third.

Toney scored an impressive 24 goals in League One last season but missed out on promotion because of the point-per-game method.

Defensive work is vital for Bielsa though from his striker, and the former Newcastle man also excels there. Toney completed 113 recoveries last season, with 64.6% of those in the opposing half according to WyScout – impressive.

Victor Orta is in the market for competition to Patrick Bamford, and Durham believes that he should look no further than Toney.
