Adam Pope shares why he was baffled by Leeds United fans after QPR win
Adam Pope has shared that the reaction of the Leeds United fans after the Whites beat QPR 2-0 in the Championship has left him scratching his head.
The West Yorkshire outfit have been in decent form throughout the 2024/25 season and currently find themselves third in the second tier, just two points adrift of top spot.
Speaking on the Don’t Go To Bed Just Yet Podcast in quotes relayed by the BBC Sport Website (12 November), Pope shared his thoughts on the atmosphere of Elland Road after the victory.
“The numbers [under Daniel Farke] stack up brilliantly,” Pope said. “I’m one of these guys who can find beauty in a well-constructed defence.
“What baffles me is – obviously after a defeat everyone is like ‘get him out’ and stuff’ – but even after a routine 2-0 win, it seems like nobody has enjoyed anything.
“You’re thinking hang on, we’re all saying [Ao] Tanaka is more attractive to watch, [Joe] Rothwell too, [Jayden] Bogle has been great.
“It’s a clean sheet. I am scratching my head. But, there is not the atmosphere in the ground that suggests that everybody has been royally entertained.”
Daniel Farke needs his Leeds United team to keep this run of form going
Last season ended in bitter disappointment for Whites’ fans after they narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League.
So it goes without saying that Leeds’ main target for the 2024/25 season was to avoid the playoffs and find themselves in the top two so that they could regain their Premier League status.
Indeed, there have been a couple of blips along the way such as Illan Meslier’s mistake against Sunderland and even their recent loss against Neil Harris’ Millwall but, all in all, things have gone quite well for Farke and his men so far this term.

Of course, things can always be improved such as the goalscoring form of their striker and number 10 but aside from minor things like that, summer arrivals such as Jayden Bogle and Ao Tanaka have settled in perfectly well.
As long as the German can keep his team motivated and ensure they can keep up the level of performance they showed against QPR, it’s hard to see how they won’t end up in the automatic promotion spots this season.
In other Leeds news, the Whites may have found their long-term Crysencio Summerville successor in a “fantastic” academy gem.
