Adam Pope shares Leeds United promotion verdict after Millwall defeat
Adam Pope believes Daniel Farke’s decision-making will help Leeds United gain Premier League promotion this season despite their 1-0 loss to Millwall at The Den on Wednesday.
After their Championship loss to Millwall on 6 November, the Whites are third in the league and four points adrift of league leaders, Sunderland.
Writing for BBC Sport (7 November), Pope shared why he trusts Farke’s decisions about his squad.
“The regular refrain from Leeds United supporters after failing to win a game this season is to shout at manager Daniel Farke or type in capital letters on whichever social media platform: ‘Why don’t you make subs earlier?’,” he wrote.
“The perception for some fans is that Farke’s substitutions always come around the 70th-minute mark and that there is a stubborn adherence to the time he feels an intervention is required.
“After the full-time whistle, accusations of failing to manage or influence a game to a positive conclusion then follow.
“If Farke is a slave to his own rhythm, the drum he bangs remains in time with the promotion beat”.
Daniel Farke will take Leeds United to Premier League promotion
While Leeds are outside of the top two spots in the Championship at the moment, their quest for promotion is still well underway.
They have one of the strongest teams in the league and with Farke’s guidance, it’s hard to see how they won’t get promoted at the second time of asking.
Some fans may not agree with Farke’s decision-making regarding his substitutes but the fact of the matter is that the West Yorkshire outfit has lost just two second-tier games this season and that’s not just happened because of luck.

Leeds’ team is strong across the board and has plenty of depth within it, especially now that Josuha Guilavogui has arrived to help bolster the midfield and defensive ranks.
Leeds are still well on course for promotion and if they can find their shooting boots shortly, it’s hard to see how they won’t end up as a Premier League team next season.
