Adam Pope: Robin Koch absent v Burnley due to a knock
Leeds United defender Robin Koch missed out on the match against Burnley after picking up a knock, according to BBC journalist Adam Pope.
The German came back into the side to replace the injured Kalvin Phillips in recent matches but had to watch from the stands on Saturday, leading to claims that he had been dropped.
They were wide of the mark, though.
Koch has experienced a lot of trouble with injury this season and this latest setback will likely frustrate the centre-back, especially with the Euros coming up.
The seriousness of the injury is not yet known but if it is only a knock then the 24-year-old could be available for Leeds’ final two matches of the season.
Injury troubles
We have not known a season like this one for injuries, but that was perhaps to be expected due to the packed schedule that came about because the season started late.
Koch has suffered with injury more than most and we are disappointed for him, particularly as he impressed in defensive midfield against Tottenham last week.
Fortunately, Phillips is back fit and was able to replace him, allowing Marcelo Bielsa to keep the same back four, with Diego Llorente and Pascal Struijk continuing in central defence.
Koch, Llorente, Rodrigo, and Raphinha – our four summer signings- have all been impacted by injury to one degree or another.
We hope that changes next season, and if they stay trouble-free Leeds could excel even more.
Koch will be determined to make a good impression and with Llorente and Struijk showing good form he has a lot of work to do to earn a place in the side.
