Leeds United: Injury problems mooted live on BBC ahead of Chelsea clash in FA Cup
Adam Pope believes that the injury issues that Leeds United are facing could be vital ahead of an “important” FA Cup clash against Chelsea on Wednesday 28 February.
The Whites claimed all three points in a dramatic 3-1 victory over Leicester City on Friday 23 February, closing the gap to just six points at the top of the Championship table.
Daniel Farke could have been without Patrick Bamford, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter for the trip to Stamford Bridge, but the latter is the only one who has missed out completely.
When questioned about the impact of momentum on Leeds, Pope said live via BBC Radio West Yorkshire on Wednesday (28 February, 6:07am): “It is very important. I think having beat Leicester City on Friday night, people are looking at this, thinking ‘Go on, give it a go’.
“If they hadn’t won on Friday night, people might be thinking a little bit differently. The only problem for me is that if the injuries are extensive, or enough to keep them out of this game but not Saturday, it leaves Leeds light.”
Can Leeds United push past Chelsea in the FA Cup?
Despite all eyes being firmly set on the promotion from the Championship, Farke will be keen to continue Leeds’ fine form to add to the current momentum at Elland Road.
Even though the Whites may be without their main superstars, the squad is filled to the brim with special talents that have every chance of overturning Chelsea in their own backyard.
The Blues will be injured after their Carabao Cup final defeat to Liverpool, and that combined with the uncertainty over Mauricio Pochettino’s future at the club, there will be weaknesses to target.

If Leeds want to be battling against the likes of Chelsea next season in the Premier League, they may as well prove they have what it takes to win in the FA Cup and move further into the competition.
Of course, if Farke’s side are unable to pull off a victory, the key focus needs to be on the league, with Ipswich Town and Southampton hot on the heels of Leeds in second place.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites could now make a permanent signing after a confirmed transfer.
