Adam Pope loves what James did in Leeds United win v Stoke – ‘Absolutely cooked’

Adam Pope was wowed by the performance of Dan James as Leeds United secured a comfortable 2-0 victory against Stoke City on Boxing Day.

The Whites moved back to the summit of the Championship on 26 December with a 2-0 win over Championship strugglers Stoke with James playing a starring role.

James registered an assist for Leeds with Joel Piroe scoring both goals, although it was the Welshman who earned the attention of Pope via BBC Sport.

The BBC Radio Leeds commentator said: “Dan James has absolutely cooked his left-back, or whoever he has had in front of him at any point this evening.”

Dan James impresses once again for Leeds United

Ever since his return from injury, James has been in scorching hot form and his performances continue to impress every single week.

The Welshman has now clocked up eight goal contributions in the Championship from just 13 starts and his quality has been on show in all of them.

If Leeds are to achieve promotion, consistency from attacking players is a must and you can certainly make a case for James being the most consistent of a very talented attacking lineup.

His pace and much-improved final product are enough to cause problems for any opposition and the key to a successful season can be as simple as keeping him fit and firing.

If Daniel Farke can play a part in helping him maintain these levels, it’s hard to envisage a scenario that doesn’t end in a Premier League return for the Whites which given their exceptional start to tech campaign, would be more than deserved.
