Leeds United under-23s forward Max Dean has signed his first professional contract at Elland Road this week after a cracking first season.

After arriving from Everton in the summer, the 17-year-old quickly worked his way through the age groups to shine in the academy this season.

Mark Jackson has used Dean frequently, despite strong competition from the likes of Sam Greenwood and Joe Gelhardt who are pushing for the first-team.

Dean has shared his delight across social media this week since signing the contract, although he jokes his emotionless face tells a different story.

The young forward shared a picture on his personal Instagram account on Friday evening, and a number of his academy teammates and even Adam Forshaw.

"Congrats lad, you look buzzing," he joked in the responses.

Another to the list.

Dean is just the latest on a very long list of sensational talent coming through the ranks at Thorp Arch, and the good news is that we are even poaching some from Premier League rivals.

Forshaw has returned to training in the past couple of weeks and has been going through his rehabilitation with the under-23s.

The midfielder won't have it easy with Mark Jackson's side though, who have become the perfect replica of Marcelo Bielsa and the first-team in recent years.

Forshaw is the perfect link between both squads at this moment in time, and he will be dripping all of his knowledge into the younger players on what it takes to jump into the senior side.

Dean will be one of those players looking to do just that, but he may need another year in the under-23s before that happens again.
