Adam Forshaw next in line for new contract after Leeds United deal done
Adam Forshaw is next in line for a Leeds United contract extension after Luke Ayling’s deal was extended this week, according to Leeds Live.
Ayling, 31, became the latest player to commit their future to Elland Road with the club exercising a one-year extension in his deal on Thursday (16 February), which was due to expire at the end of the season.
Now, as per Leeds Live on Friday (17 February) Forshaw, 31, is the next player the club will look at with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season.

Joel Robles and Mateusz Bogusz are the two other players with contracts expiring in the summer but it is claimed that sorting out Forshaw’s future is the club’s priority.
Forshaw has been limited to five Premier League appearances this season though two of those have been starts.
Yorkshire Evening Post reported on Thursday (16 February) that his continued absence from training is owing to an ongoing hip issue that has troubled him for two years.

No-brainer
Forshaw, at the very least, should be given the same terms Ayling was. A one-year extension and, just to be safe, the option of another year on top of that.
The 31-year-old is one of the most experienced operators at the club and following the litany of signings made by Jesse Marsch this season, having someone in the dressing room who “gets it” is a valuable thing.
That’s to say nothing of his performances this season. His outing against Manchester City in late December was a stunning return to form.
If he had been given an extension straight after that game no one would have batted an eyelid. One issue is there has been increased competition for Forshaw’s position this season.
Along with his injuries, this has made it hard for him to nail down a run of games. But Weston McKennie may not stay beyond the end of the current campaign and it would be crazy to think there will be no transfer interest in Brenden Aaronson and Tyler Adams no matter what decision Leeds are playing in next season.
Losing Forshaw as well as even one of the American trio could leave Leeds United dangerously short in the midfield.
Extending Forshaw’s deal is a no-brainer and even though the club have bigger issues to solve right now, an extension should be forthcoming.
