Adam Forshaw could be facing Leeds United exit as club option remains untouched

Adam Forshaw has been at Leeds United since 2018 and has gone on to be an important player for the Whites during his time at Elland Road.

However, Forshaw could well see his time at the club coming to an end with his current deal reaching its conclusion in the summer of 2023. The 30-year-old signed a one-year contract extension in January 2022 with the club crucially holding the option for an extra year at Elland Road.

With January fast approaching, Leeds will need to start planning for the future in regard to their transfer business in the summer. The likes of Forshaw and Luke Ayling are players who could well be moved on in order to space to be made for new players to be added to Jesse Marsch’s squad.

As of yet, there has been no talk on whether Forshaw’s contract option will be taken up by the club, and if nothing is sorted in the winter window, then the classy midfielder will probably understand that his future will lie elsewhere.

The recent summer window was a clear indication of a change of tact from Leeds in terms of how they want to recruit. Large transfer fees were dished out on younger and untested players from across the continent, who will develop during their time at the club.

Leeds’ older guard, who were so integral in getting the club back to the Premier League just don’t seem to fit the mould of how the Whites went about their transfer business this summer.

Forshaw will be keen for his future to potentially be sorted out before the summer does come into view. A club holding an option can provide plenty of uncertainty for a player and his family.

He certainly deserves for an early decision to be made after his time spent at the club.
