AC Milan could leave Charles De Ketelaere transfer leaving door wide open for Leeds United

Leeds United have made it no secret that they are pushing to sign Club Brugges star Charles De Ketelaere this summer to fix their attacking woes.

The only problem is that the Belgian wonder wants to join AC Milan, and has even agreed on personal terms on a move to the San Siro with Champions League football in mind.

La Gazzetta Dello Sport has reported that Leeds have a £31.4million plus bonus bid tabled, a figure that the Italian side cannot and don’t plan to match.

Calciomercato journalist Daniele Longo has reported this week on Twitter [18 July] that could become a real issue for the Italians, who may need to walk away now.

“Milan want to close within this week, they have an agreement with the player,” he wrote.

“If Bruges do not lower the requests, they will change their goal.”

Door opened?

Leeds have been waiting for an opening and it may have finally arrived.

Victor Orta and Andrea Radrizzani putting their money on the table early appears to have been a masterclass, with Club Brugges basically waiting for other clubs to match that.

AC Milan clearly cannot do that, and they are trying to ramp up the pressure on the Belgian side, which basically isn’t working and has more chance of backfiring.

Paulo Maldini is set to make an ultimatum this week, and Leeds will be quietly watching for if that does backfire, as they can then push ahead.

One thing the Whites will guarantee is no messing around.

They have the money from selling Raphinha on top of Kalvin Phillips, it is on the table for Brugges to take and they have told De Ketelaere himself that his demands would be no issue [Phil Hay].

The door is now well and truly open, time to step through this week.
