Athletic journalist Phil Hay has said that he would love to see Leeds United sign Fulham defensive midfielder André-Frank Zambo Anguissa from Fulham.
The newly-promoted side are favourites to be relegated this season and Leeds are on the lookout for a defensive midfielder.
However, Hay believes it could be a tough sell with Kalvin Phillips such a mainstay in the side.
Talking on the latest episode of the Phil Hay Show podcast Hay said, “He’s a player I would go for, absolutely, whether or not they could realistically sell Leeds to him I don’t know.
“You’ve got the problem of an England international in there who looks more and more secure and effective with his passing.
“If you were saying to Anguissa, we need someone not necessarily to compete but to play if Phillips isn’t available it’s not too much of a sell to a player.
“I think Leeds will go for someone else, someone potentially younger, but Anguissa to me looks extremely talented and a player I would have, for sure.
Very tough sell
There are two positions that Leeds need to strengthen in the summer – defensive midfield and striker.
The two players that are here currently, Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Phillips, are the two players that Leeds don’t have replacements or proper back-up for.
However, both players pose the same problem.
Both are nailed-on starters and with Bielsa playing a preferred 4-1-4-1 formation, there’s no room for another starter in their positions.
It’s a similar problem to the one Tottenham have had with Harry Kane.
Anguissa signed for Fulham for £22m from Marseille in the summer of 2018 and he’s under contract until 2023.
He might want to leave if Fulham go down but he’ll surely want regular football.
