‘Absolutely out of this world’ – Jim White drools over Leeds player on talkSPORT

talkSPORT host Jim White has been left in awe of Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford after his hat-trick display against Aston Villa last week.

He said the hat-trick was one of the best he’d ever seen and that there could be “interesting” times ahead for the striker.

Talking on the Jim White Show (talkSPORT, Friday 11am) White said, ” What a hat-trick! There are hat-tricks and hat-tricks, but Bamford’s was absolutely out of this world.

“It got me thinking, with the international break a couple of weeks away what about Bamford? Southgate must be looking at him.

“If anyone deserves to be getting it right and getting the adulation, then it’s Patrick Bamford.

“He spent weeks on weeks, months on months at loan. And now, well over 70 games for Leeds United and he’s playing under Bielsa who is bringing the best out of him.

“This could be a very interesting time for Patrick Bamford. We like talking Leeds. They excite us.”

Exciting times

White was genuinely excited when he was talking about Bamford and his displays for Leeds this season.

And we also like the fact that he’s been left excited by Leeds this season. We have too.

It’s a refreshing change for Leeds to be talked about in such a positive light and it all comes back to Bielsa.

He hasn’t just got Leeds playing on the pitch. He’s got them talking a fantastic game off it too and Bamford is one of the most eloquent speakers in the game.

He came across brilliantly in the interview with Jim White on Thursday when he played down the prospect of him playing for England.

That’s exactly what we want to hear from our striker – exciting on the pitch and humble off it.

Bamford gets his next chance at Leeds against Leicester on Monday and it will give Gareth Southgate the chance to see two of the best English strikers in action on the Elland Road pitch.
