Aaronson, Piroe and Gnonto singled out for issue in Leeds United v Derby
Brenden Aaronson, Joel Piroe and Willy Gnonto were singled out by Simon Rix for missing chances as Leeds United defeated Derby County on Saturday.
The Whites left Elland Road with all three points to their name after triumphing over Paul Warne’s men 2-0 on 7 December.
Max Wober got his name on the scoresheet after entering the pitch in the 21st minute and put the game to bed.
But speaking on the Don’t Go To Bed Just Yet Podcast (9 December), Rix shared his thoughts on Leeds’ wastefulness at times.
“With Leeds, I don’t remember all the chances because we were just constantly creating and that would be my only criticism,” Rix said.
“[Brenden] Aaronson could have got one or two, [Joel] Piroe could have got one, [Willy] Gnonto could have got one. It felt like a 5-0 game and it was only 2-0.”
Brenden Aaronson needs to step up his form for Leeds United
It may have taken Leeds’ fanbase a while to end up backing the US international after his return to the club in the summer, but at the moment, the relationship between both parties seems fairly civil.
Aaronson has been afforded the rare opportunity of starting each game this season despite not being in the best of form due to the Whites’ lack of depth in the number 10 role.
Moves were attempted to be made in the summer with Gustavo Hamer being among those who Leeds explored deals for.
However, nothing came to fruition and Daniel Farke was left with Aaronson as his only natural number 10.

Indeed, both Largie Ramazani and Willy Gnonto could have a go in the centre of the park but their pace is more useful on the flanks.
If Aaronson wants to keep his role in the team ahead of the January transfer window, he’s going to have to figure out how to re-find his best form and make himself undroppable for the West Yorkshire outfit.
In other Leeds news, Jeff Stelling was left stunned by the claims Ally McCoist made about the Whites.
