Aaronson earns rave review from Sky Sports pundit amid Leeds United links
Leeds United are close to finalising a deal for RB Salzburg midfielder Brendan Aaronson with the 21-year-old keen to join up with Marcelo Bielsa.
TEAMtalk reported yesterday that Victor Orta was in Austria attempting to finalise the details of the deal which might see Aaronson join the club in the summer, rather than before the January transfer deadline on Monday.
Sky Sports pundit David Prutton saw Aaronson when he was still a teenager playing for Philadelphia Union in 2019 and even then he stood out from the crowd.
“What I liked about him was that he could get about the pitch quite obviously and confidently,” said Prutton talking to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
“The fact that he was quite slight at the time stood out; he took the ball in tricky positions.
“He was absolutely no slouch in possession so that ability to be able to handle a ball whether it be close to a touchline or further infield, and be combative and could get around the pitch as well, was something that really stood out.

“And it stood out even more because you were watching a game in that tournament which was amazing from our point of view because, covering the games, we didn’t even have the fake crowd noise.
“Literally all you heard was players and coaches shouting and you could hear him and you could hear the orders being barked out and he just stood out in a way of you look at a player and how he affects a football match.”
Worth the wait
It seems like Aaronson’s arrival at Elland Road will have to wait with RB Salzburg keen on keeping him until the end of this season to help with their Champions League campaign.
You can’t blame them or even him really as every player wants to play in the biggest competition and the Champions League is exactly that.
16 times a United States international and already a league winner in Austria, he is a player with real pedigree and he has plenty of potential to grow into still if, or more likely when, he makes the move to Leeds.
It would be nice to have him come in immediately but patience will pay off for Bielsa and when he does pull on the White shirt, he will be a revelation. If he isn’t he has enough sell on value to get Leeds their money back.
In other Leeds United news, this Premier League winner could be on his way to Elland Road if the club submit a “considerable” offer.
