Aaron Lennon believes Leeds United would be the team most likely to survive in the Premier League between them and Burnley if promoted.

Daniel Farke’s men sit second in the Championship table after their 2-0 victory over Derby on 7 December at Elland Road.

The Whites have been in stellar form this season with the impressive performances of Joe Rothwell and Ao Tanaka pivotal to forget a recent injury crisis.

Asked about who the Premier League would be more important to out of Burnley and Leeds while live on talkSPORT (9 December, 09:43 am), Lennon said: "It's a tough one because the new owners have come in and they've backed him [Scott Parker].

"I don't know if they can keep doing that, can they keep throwing money like they have done in the past, I'm not so sure.

"I think if I look at the teams, I think they're quite even. Leeds are a bigger football club, if they can come up and spend, I think they might have a slightly better chance to stay in the league."

Daniel Farke can’t let the form of Leeds United drop

Farke made plenty of solid moves in the summer transfer window, but he was backed with money from player sales on top of that.

Players such as Largie Ramazani and Joe Rodon were brought through the Elland Road doors after the likes of Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter were sold.

Since the start of the season, the West Yorkshire outfit have been one of the favourites to gain automatic promotion to the Premier League with most fans and pundits believing they have what it takes to win the title.

They may currently sit second in the league but the fact they’re just one point behind league leaders, Sheffield United, shows how on form they’ve been this term.

In addition, the fact that there’s still plenty of the season left for Leeds to create a decent gap between themselves and their promotion rivals means that at the moment, everything seems to be playing in their favour.

Only time will tell what the future holds but right now, things seem to be going swimmingly.
