Andrea Radrizzani fires fierce Twitter response to Phil Hay after Leeds United-49ers claim

Andrea Radrizzani has reacted furiously to an article from The Athletic over the potential full sale of Leeds United to the 49ers Enterprises.

Writing via his personal Twitter profile on Tuesday morning (7 December) in response to a claim that the 49ers Enterprises have an option to buy Leeds in full, at a total cost of more than £400million before January 2024, Radrizzani said: “For someone as good as you I expect more!

“Aser has [the] option to void the call (effect before 2024) but the main point is that we are only focused on working together and growing Leeds United. Anything can happen between now and two years time (when many may have forgotten the article!)”

Fierce

Hay is, in the eyes of many Leeds supporters, one of the most respected journalists around for news pertaining to the Whites.

His work at The Athletic, and previously at The Yorkshire Post, has won him wide acclaim.

Indeed, he appears to have a very good relationship with the bigwigs at Elland Road, as Radrizzani alludes to.

But the Leeds chief was desperate to set the record straight here as he fired back at Hay on Twitter.

Radrizzani appears to be unhappy that the article suggests his time at Leeds is drawing to a close and that the 49ers are gearing up for a full takeover of the club.

Hay is yet to respond, at the time of writing, so it will be interesting to hear what he says and whether it’s a case of crossed wires, or Radrizzani is angry at the timing of the article.

It’s certainly one to keep an eye on but Radrizzani looks keen to stress that he is going nowhere for the time being and is completely committed to the Whites.

In other Leeds United news, Crawley Town have fired a thinly-veiled dig at the Whites on Twitter after this West Ham announcement.
