£4m update as Rodrigo set to seal Leeds United exit for Al Rayyan

Leeds United are reportedly set to rake in a multi-million fee as Al Rayyan will be completing the signing of attacker Rodrigo.

According to LeedsLive journalist Beren Cross, the 32-year-old’s sale could generate as much as £4million in transfer fees.

He will be the next one out of the door, following Diego Llorente, Robin Koch and Brenden Aaronson.

Via Twitter, Cross wrote, “Rodrigo should bring in around £3.5m to £4m, but take a massive salary off Leeds United’s budget. Rasmus Kristensen’s Roma loan expected to be finalised today too.

“Junior Firpo facing a late fitness test in Oslo ahead of this afternoon’s friendly.”

Take what they get

Leeds and Daniel Farke surely would’ve wanted to retain the services of the 32-year-old as he’s the best scorer in the team.

Even when the Whites struggled and eventually got relegated, he was one of the rays of hope and the managers always turned to him to bail the side out.

Where Patrick Bamford faltered, Rodrigo stood up to the task and his absence will be dearly felt inside the dressing room and on the field of play.

£4million is a pittance compared to what he means to Leeds but there’s not too much anyone can do about it.

He’s as good as an Al Rayyan player now and while Everton were keen on him, they aren’t really in a financial position to afford him.

It’s strange to see him move to the Middle East as it could jeopardise his chances of being a regular for the Spain national team.

In other Leeds United news, the club have been handed a boost to sign a Manchester United player this summer with Erik ten Hag likely to sanction his exit.
