49ers takeover could hit the skids at Leeds United as Vincent Kompany mentioned by Sky Sports pundit
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson has claimed the 49ers’ takeover of Leeds United could hit the skids if the club are relegated to the Championship.
Javi Gracia’s side are currently one place off the foot of the Premier League table and face Southampton on Saturday in a huge relegation clash.
Robinson feels a new manager could be appointed if they do return to the second tier but believes the bigger issues lie off the field.

“A manager like Vincent Kompany [if they were relegated], but they won’t have any chance of getting him because he will be in the Premier League with Burnley or he will go on to bigger and better things,” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.
“A manager of that ilk, somebody who can take the club forwards and back into the Premier League. I just don’t think it’s the on-the-pitch impact of Championship. I suspect the deal structured with the 49ers and the investment that’s allegedly coming in from that side will see the goalposts change.
“We know the impact the Premier League has financially and the impact that has on a club but with Leeds United and a potential takeover, I suspect that wouldn’t go through or it wouldn’t go through at the level they were expecting it to go through.
“So there’s a lot of ramifications if Leeds go down to the Championship.”

Gracia will be looking for his side to put together a string of positive results, which is something they’ve struggled to do all season.
The new head coach could still miss this weekend’s clash against the Saints with the club still awaiting a work permit for the Spaniard (Phil Hay, 23 February).
