49ers send message to Leeds United after Rodrigo goal in 6-2 win v Cagliari

Leeds United finalised their pre-season calendar with a thumping 6-2 win over Cagliari on Sunday evening (31 July) at Elland Road.

Jesse Marsch will have been delighted by the attacking side of his team, with Rodrigo notching three goals and Patrick Bamford adding two as Robin Koch finished things off.

Apart from a sketchy five minutes where two were conceded, the 49ers were particularly impressed by Rodrigo and his antics in the final third as they watched from afar.

The minority shareholders at Leeds, the 49ers Enterprises paid close attention to the match late last night, and singled out Rodrigo for his efforts, especially his first strike.

Responding to the Whites on their official Instagram account, they made sure to pay their compliments to the Spaniard as he starts to hit top form at the right time.

“What a finish,” they wrote.

Number 10.

This is exactly what we need to see more of when it comes to Rodrigo.

It is easy to get carried away with his three goals against a second-tier Italian side, but there is no doubting that his confidence will be sky-high after his performance.

We have seen the Spaniard struggle heavily at times, and only show glimpses of what he can do, but we’re hoping that he will now go into the new Premier League season in the same manner as yesterday.

Attackers want goals, that is all, and Rodrigo showed a ruthless streak that we haven’t seen before, with that first goal an excellent finish no matter who the opposition.

With a new striker still being targeted, players like the Spaniard have a big point to prove and he certainly got off to the perfect start in doing that last night.

The 49ers are happy and let’s hope Rodrigo is too as he gets ready for a huge year.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites now want to sign this striker with a rival set to kickstart a major £30million+ transfer battle
