49ers not losing interest in Leeds United as Paraag Marathe speaks out this week

Phil Hay has insisted that the 49ers Enterprises are not losing interest in Leeds United after Paraag Marathe went public once again this week.

The Athletic journalist admitted that if they were, you would not see representatives putting themselves out there, as discussions continue over a trip to California during the World Cup.

The 49ers still hold the option of a full takeover before 2024, with Andrea Radrizzani recently on business in San Francisco and Marathe speaking to the BBC in England.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Phil Hay Show podcast, the journalist shared the latest with Marathe going very public to show his interest remains high.

“I think you can draw from that they are very much in the ring in the way that they have been right the way through, and if the 49ers were losing interest or drifting away, it’s never seemed to any of us that was the case, but if they were, then Marathe would not be putting himself out like this,” he said.

“There wasn’t much detail of it when it was going to happen, and when they might activate this option and buy Radrizzani out, it was all light on details like that.

“The discussion is going on right now about what happens during the World Cup, they are looking at playing a game, or a couple of games out in California.”

Protect.

That is what Marathe made very clear in his interview, that English football and their clubs need to be protected, as the likes of Todd Boehly at Chelsea look to make very big changes.

Radrizzani looks to be well on board with the 49ers Enterprises though, with this more of a partnership than a full takeover that forces him out of the club.

The investment brought in from the NFL-based consortium has been groundbreaking over recent years, and that is only going to keep growing over the next two seasons.

Half of the Premier League is nearly American-owned now, and with the dollar changing against the pound, that figure could only keep growing in years to come.

The 49ers are growing interest, rather than losing it and it looks as though that collaboration and bond are growing, something that only spells good news for the Whites, especially financially at Elland Road.
