49ers hits out at Leeds United fan on Twitter after what was said
NBA star and 49ers Enterprises member Larry Nance Jr has hit back at a Leeds United fan online after his relevance was questioned.
The Leeds fan claimed on Twitter that Nance was only relevant because of his father, who was also an NBA sta.
Nance Jr is a minority investor in the ownership group that recently bought Leeds for a reported £170million [The Mirror], with the New Orleans Pelicans power forward not standing for disrespect on social media.
Nance Jr replied to the Leeds fan: “My child… I literally own your favourite team.”
The power of social media
Even as recently as a decade ago, the idea of a football club owner hitting back at a fan of their club online would be unthinkable. Such is the modern world, however, and Nance Jr certainly defended himself following the comical exchange.
Nance Jr is part of the Leeds ownership that has been making shrewd moves this window, most notably the signing of Daniel Farke as manager.
There are talks of big investment from Leeds once they’ve sold more of their assets [Yorkshire Evening Post], and Nance Jr may have a front-row seat for a great resurgence at the Yorkshire club.

Some may see Nance Jr’s exchange with a fan as comical. Perhaps it’s quite refreshing to see an owner speak so naturally to their fanbase, especially as he had unnecessary criticism levelled at him.
The basketball star’s nearly 350,000 follower base will have gotten a taste of his personality, with this exchange not being his first Leeds-related disagreement on Twitter.
In a deleted post, Nance Jr replied to a concerned Leeds fan who was against the appointment of Patrick Vieira at Elland Road. Nance Jr replied claiming managerial appointments had nothing to do with him and that he didn’t know what the club were hiring.
Leeds fans may find such an online interaction quite funny, while others may see it as unprofessional to interact with fans like this.
