£200k/week claim emerges as Rodrigo Moreno edges closer to Leeds United exit

Everton reportedly failed to match the wage demands Rodrigo’s agents were demanding as he looks set to leave Leeds United.

According to Football Transfers [13 July], Al Rayyan in Qatar are offering the 32-year-old wages worth £200k/week to join them.

The Toffees were asked to match that, but they refused to do so which means that he appears set for a move to the Middle East.

All about the money?

Rodrigo may be in the twilight of his career but he’s proven time and again that he’s still got what it takes to deliver at the top level.

Even last season, playing for a struggling Leeds United side, he managed to stand out and deliver double figures in goals and that only shows that he’s capable of delivering for any side.

With the EUROs coming in two years, it could’ve been the perfect way for him to bid farewell to his international career.

However, he’s only jeopardising his chances of a Spain call-up by moving to a league that’s not really a serious one.

It’s hard to gauge the quality of football there as it’s Qatar and Rodrigo is expected to be among the best if not the best player there.

Leeds did not have much of a say when it came to the transfer fee as it was a release clause that Al Rayyan were more than happy to trigger.

Rodrigo will be the next one out of the door with Robin Koch, Diego Llorente and Brenden Aaronson leaving as well.

In other Leeds United news, the club have been handed a boost to sign a Manchester United player this summer with Erik ten Hag likely to sanction his exit.
