£15m update emerges on Leeds United quest to sign Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz

Leeds United, Everton and Newcastle are all reportedly set to miss out on the services of Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz.

According to the Sun [7 January], the Championship side are unwilling to budge from their £15million valuation despite his deal running out at the end of the season.

Everton and West Ham are keen on signing a striker to get them out of relegation trouble while Newcastle too have been linked, but all will now miss out on the Chile international’s services this month.

Move on

90min reported in November 2022 that Brereton Diaz had already informed the Blackburn hierarchy about his intentions to leave once his contract expires.

This was a clear indicator that any extension that was put on the table, it would be turned down by the 23-year-old.

It seemed that this would compel Blackburn into cashing in on him in January, but they still seem to believe that their valuation is the correct one.

Leeds should not waste any more time in pursuing his services and move on to other players whose clubs will be easier to deal with.

If Brereton Diaz is still available and keen on moving to Leeds, they could look to sign him in the summer if they are on the lookout for another attacking option.

We cannot predict which player will want to leave or have his head turned by a big offer so the Chilean will certainly remain on the radar.

In other Leeds United, the Whites are closely involved in the bidding for an international striker and are even prepared to spend £14million to secure his services.
