Leeds United player sent home from Thorp Arch before win v Ipswich

Phil Hay has shared that Jaidon Anthony was sent home from Thorp Arch ahead of Leeds United smashing Ipswich 4-0 on Saturday 23 December.

The winger was a noticeable absence from the squad at Elland Road today, with illness making sure that he remained at home ahead of Christmas.

Daniel Farke went onto confirm that the Bournemouth loanee will be staying at the club for the entire season, with the hope he can return against Preston.

He wrote on X: “Anthony was sent home ill from training yesterday.

“Farke hoping he might be available for the Preston game. Also confirms Anthony will definitely be here for the rest of the season.”

Leeds United

Caution.

There is no need to risk anything getting worse at Thorp Arch, and the right decision was made to send Anthony home ahead of such a huge week.

A sickness bug was going around the club earlier in the month and risking that potentially spreading again through the winger would have been stupid.

Anthony has helped massively with the squad depth since his arrival but has rarely started games, so with Dan James, Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto available today, his absence wasn’t missed.

With the games coming thick and fast with only three more days till the trip to Preston, it will be good to have an extra face available at Deepdale, he will be needed.

Farke also confirming Anthony will stick around for the entire season is good news, with rumours circulating that he could return to Bournemouth now nipped in the bud.

All eyes are now on Preston, and hopefully this is the only doubt after a brilliant afternoon.
