Leeds United injury news as Luis Sinisterra picks up new blow

Daniel Farke has confirmed that Leeds United attacker Luis Sinisterra is the latest player to be nursing a knock at Elland Road.

The German confirmed the Colombian star has a knee injury after the 2-1 win against Shrewsbury at Elland Road in the EFL Cup on Wednesday 09 August.

Despite that, Sinisterra was risked in the final 15 minutes and almost got his name on the scoresheet as he blazed over the top when through on goal.

Speaking live to LUTV with Bryn Law and Tony Dorigo after the game, Farke shared the latest injury blow from his side in what could be yet more bad news.

“Luis Sinisterra on the bench even though he had a knock on his knee,” he said.

“I didn’t want to risk him but I get the feeling that the last 10 to 15 minutes that we needed him on the pitch, he should have scored, by the way.

“At the moment, it’s tricky.”

Crushing.

Farke must literally be pulling his hair out at Elland Road right now with just bad news following more bad news with each passing hour, it seems.

The week started with the confirmed news that Liam Cooper, Junior Firpo and Crysencio Summerville are all out for a minimum of three weeks or longer.

That is on top of the likes of Jack Harrison, Patrick Bamford and Georginio Rutter, with Tyler Adams and Wilfried Gnonto both looking like they could quit the club very soon too.

Sinisterra is not ruled out by any stretch, but playing with a knock will only increase the chances of him being ruled out long term, at a time where we cannot afford that to happen.

The South American has not exactly been injury free since signing last summer, so risking him every week may become harder for Farke, who may need to find a different solution.

This is certainly one to watch.
