If any of the Leeds United coaching staff thought they were going to get some downtime on lockdown, they will have been sorely disappointed.
Bielsa was given the option to return to Argentina to be with his family but decided to stay in his flat in Wetherby plotting Leeds’s bid to return to the Premier League.
And the extent of that plotting was given an airing in an Athletic report on Saturday, as highlighted by journalist Peter Rutzler.
He said, “Loads of super insight into the latest meetings here. Good to see Bielsa keeping his staff busy too.”
Leeds fans were absolutely loving the detail about Bielsa – and rightly so.
We knew about his attention to detail when it transpired that he had watched all of Leeds’ games from the 17/18 season ahead of his job interview.
And the world found out in the infamous press conference after the Spygate scandal moved Bielsa to show how in-depth his preparations go.
But this is next-level stuff even by these standards, with six leagues being scoured for help with set pieces.
Bielsa identified set pieces as a particular weakness for Leeds back in October, with corners identified as a real problem.
Lockdown has given him and his staff the chance to improve one of the few weaknesses in the Leeds game and the fans queued up to pay their respects to the manager.
