'Wow; Absolute madness' – Many Leeds fans rage at Phil Hay Twitter update for Bristol City clash

Marcelo Bielsa is a manager who knows his own mind and trusts in his own system. Even when things aren’t going well.

Two players who have come in for severe criticism for underperforming this season are Kiko Casilla.

Bamford has blanked in the last three games – losses against Wigan and Nottingham Forest, and a draw against Brentford.

Kiko Casilla has made big mistakes in all three games with the most calamitous coming in the game against Brentford.

However, Bielsa went out of his way to support both players, in fact they were the only two players he confirmed would be starting against Bristol City on Saturday.

Irrespective of what we think, we admire this quality in Bielsa. Talking in his press conference on Thursday he said he supported Casilla because he supported the team. And that he did that acknowledging the mistakes his keeper has made.

Both are good footballers but they’re not in the best of form. They need support and that’s what Bielsa is giving.

However, his single-mindedness isn’t going down well with all the fans.

Athletic journalist Phil Hay reported the team news from the press conference on his personal Twitter account and the majority of fans were not happy.

Here’s a selection of the grumbling in words and pictures…

Not all the fans think the same way.

One made a very good point when he said, “Twitter in meltdown as Bielsa sticks with the team that drew and played Brentford off the park on Tuesday. Everyone saying how we’ve a 14 game season from now to gain promotion so let’s get behind EVERY player in EVERY game. ‘Marching on Together’ remember.”
