Max Wober has accompanied the Leeds United squad for the Championship clash against Blackburn Rovers, Graham Smyth says.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist has revealed on his X account (1 January) that the Austrian defender is with the squad at Elland Road on Thursday.

Ahead of the 1-0 win over Derby County, the defender was unable to take part in training and has been on the sidelines.

Leeds United need to add depth at centre-back in January

The Whites need to add depth to their defence during the January transfer window.

Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk have been heavily relied on to provide cover at centre-back.

While Ethan Ampadu's return has given Daniel Farke another option at the back, he does his best work in the middle of the park.

Wober is the only experienced option available to the German manager, but his fitness issues have made him unreliable.

James Debayo is still young and cannot be trusted to start for Leeds United, who are seeking promotion to the Premier League.

The Whites are top of the table going into the Blackburn game and need to win in order to maintain their lead.

Farke's team are favourites to get back to the English top flight and failure to do so will be disappointing for the Elland Road faithful.

The 49ers need to put their hands in their pockets in January and provide the German reinforcements at centre-back to ensure a fruitful campaign.
