'Will be banned', 'Is this legit?' – Many Leeds fans slam promotion rivals for on-pitch incident

One Leeds United fan has predicted tactics accessories “will be banned” during water breaks after a controversial on-pitch incident in the Brentford game against Charlton on Tuesday night.

Leeds fans went through the grinder as Brentford came back from a goal down after the final drinks break to beat Charlton 2-1 on Tuesday night.

The win continues their incredible post-lockdown run of five wins, although they have now conceded a goal.

It moves Brentford to within three points of Leeds who play Stoke at Elland Road on Thursday evening.

However, one on-pitch incident has angered some Leeds fans, after Brentford manager Thomas Frank delivered a team talk, which included a full tactics board on the pitch, midway through the second half.

From what we could see, only three Brentford players were actually drinking water during the official drinks break.

The drinks breaks were introduced following the extended break because of the Coronavuris outbreak but have been criticised heavily by some managers and many pundits.

Pep Guardiola has said he doesn’t want them continuing to next season and Bielsa himself has criticised the extra stoppages.

Did the Frank tactical masterclass change the game last night? Brentford scored from a penalty and a header from a set-piece so it would be hard to argue that, and it wasn’t exactly a surprise to see them power back into the game.

However, the image of Frank and his tactics board does seem to stretch the spirit of the breaks.

We think it’s likely that the EFL will have a word with clubs and remind them what the breaks are for. It’s also possible that they ban accessories – as one fan predicted – like Frank’s tactics board, from the pitch during games.

Either that or they should come out and say that everything coaching-related is fine.

That won’t get Charlton any of the points back from last night and it leaves Leeds needing three points from the game on Thursday night.
