‘What on earth?’, ‘The EFL is a joke’ – Some Leeds fans fume at official club tweet
Leeds United full-back Luke Ayling was given a place in the EFL team of the week after his match-winning display against Bristol City.
However, Leeds fans can’t believe that Kalvin Phillips wasn’t included in the best XI.
Ayling scored the only goal of the game on Saturday, netting in the 16th minute after an almighty scramble in the Bristol penalty area.
He played brilliantly and was the best player on the pitch according to Who Scored, with an 8.1 rating.
However, Phillips controlled the midfield yet again after returning from a three-game suspension in the 1-1 draw against Brentford last week.
He was an “animal” according to Athletic journalist Phil Hay who added that he “snookered” the opposition.
He didn’t make the midfield, with Mark Cullen, Cauley Woodrow and Kayden Jackson making up the middle.
Leeds sent a congratulatory tweet about Ayling on their official Twitter account but plenty of Leeds fans piled onto the EFL about leaving the Yorkshire Pirlo out.
