‘What are they thinking?’, ‘Leeds are getting conned’ – These fans fume at official club update
Sky Sports have announced they will be showing the Leeds United clash with Blackburn Rovers live on TV as Marcelo Bielsa’s men home in on promotion.
However, the game has now been switched to a Friday night – April 3 – and that’s left plenty of Leeds fans fuming.
The news was announced on the official Leeds Twitter page on Wednesday morning.
Many fans had already arranged a Saturday out in Blackburn but there are other concerns as well.
A few fans questioned the wisdom of having 7,000 Leeds fans in Blackburn on a Friday night with limited means of getting home.
Another said a “major day out had been ruined”.
That the game has been selected isn’t a big surprise. It’s a tough game and the atmosphere will be fantastic.
Switching it to a Friday night is really disruptive, though, and Leeds fans think they’re targetted by Sky way more than their rivals.
That’s the cost of playing the best football in the Championship. Hopefully, next season Leeds will be featuring on Super Sunday with mouth-watering games such as Leeds v Man United proving the real draw in the top flight.
In the meantime, here are the best reactions from frustrated Leeds fans…
However, not everyone was thinking the same thing.
One Leeds fans said, “Don’t mind playing before everybody else!”, which definitely works if Leeds pick up the three points.
If they don’t it makes for a long and very nervy weekend. And a terrible Friday night out.
