‘What a gem’, ‘Unbelievable’ – Many Leeds fans blown away by ‘Class’ ace at HT v Crawley
Leeds United travelled to Crawley Town on Sunday afternoon looking to get through their first FA Cup clash of the season.
Marcelo Bielsa made seven changes against the Red Devils but kept an experienced streak in the core of his side with the likes of Liam Cooper, Pablo Hernandez and Rodrigo.
There was still space for the youth too, with Ian Poveda and Jamie Shackleton really catching the eye in the first half against the League Two outfit.
Poveda was at the heart of everything going forward in the opening 45.
Bielsa has started to hand the winger more minutes in the Premier League, but this was one of his few starts in any competition.
The 20-year-old caused constant problems for Crawley and almost opened the scoring in the first 15 minutes, firing a low shot towards goal that somehow stayed out.
With Jack Harrison and Raphinha watching on from the bench, Poveda will have been hoping to impress to increase his 230 minutes of Premier League action so far.
His moment of the half was when he somehow managed to nutmeg a Crawley defender with an elastico – something you don’t see every week, but a clear indication of his flair.
Many Leeds fans have reacted to the first-half display of Poveda against Crawley, and the majority of those were delighted with what they saw from the young talent.
Some were blown away by his dribbling and skill on the ball, something that sets him apart from other options currently at Elland Road.
