West Ham star sends message to Pablo Hernandez after Leeds ace benched in 2-1 defeat
West Ham’s Pablo Fornals sent a heartfelt message to Leeds United playmaker Pablo Hernandez on Instagram after the game at Elland Road on Friday.
Hernandez made the bench for the game but didn’t get on the pitch as West Ham scored late to win 2-1.
The playmaker has had a torrid six weeks since reacting badly to getting subbed off against Leicester at the start of November.
He was dropped from the squad and has been sidelined with injury since.
However, Fornals made it clear what a huge honour it was to line-up against Hernandez’ side – even if this hero was benched and didn’t get on the pitch.
Fornals posted a message on his official Instagram account on Sunday saying, “When you play against one of your childhood idols.”

We would have liked to have seen Hernandez come on instead of Tyler Roberts in the game on Friday night.
Marcelo Bielsa said that he brought Roberts on because he wanted him to play up-front.
However, he could easily have put Rodrigo up top and played Hernandez in the number 10 position.
Roberts was totally ineffectual in the game and Hernandez has the quality to change a game in an instant.
Hernandez might finally get to return to the pitch for the first-team on Wednesday night when Leeds welcome Newcastle to Elland Road.
He played a brilliant 45 minutes for the Under-23s on Sunday afternoon and should have proved his fitness to Bielsa.
We doubt he starts but he’s already proved what a devastating impact player he can be off the bench. It’s time for him to make his comeback.
