'Tragic', 'Embarrassing', 'Obsessed' - Many rival fans furious at what some Leeds fans did y'day

Leeds United fans displayed an allegedly stolen Huddersfield Town flag at Elland Road on Saturday, causing a bit of a stir on social media.

Leeds won their Yorkshire derby showdown at Elland Road 2-0 thanks to goals by Luke Ayling and Patrick Bamford but some of the talking online was about what some home supporters did in the stands.

According to the Football Away Days Twitter account, Huddersfield fans had a flag stolen in Kosovo last year when England played a Euro 2020 qualifier there.

And that flag was on display at Elland Road this weekend with “Dirty Leeds” spray-painted over it.

The fans who acquired that flag definitely bided their time to display it to the Huddersfield support, who really did have the misery piled on them on Saturday.

Leeds fans have been slammed by some rival supporters of Championship clubs on Twitter for doing what they did with the Terriers’ England flag and here is a selection of their tweets:

While Leeds supporters might view it as good-natured banter, this flag was allegedly acquired when England were on international duty – where club colours shouldn’t matter.

When England play away, it is always great to see St Georges’ cross plastered across stadiums and that Huddersfield one is likely to have been used for that purpose.

It’s really not great behaviour at all and you can see why supporters of teams like Fulham, Stoke, Preston and Huddersfield are raging.

In other Leeds United news, Noel Whelan blasted one player for his display against Huddersfield and is worried he isn’t Premier League quality.
