Tony Dorigo stunned by ‘superb’ Manor Solomon moment in Leeds win v Norwich

Manor Solomon played a “superb” cross to set Daniel James for his goal as Leeds United beat Norwich City 2-0 at Elland Road on Wednesday, according to Tony Dorigo.

Speaking live on commentary, the pundit was amazed by the way in which the Whites grabbed their second goal as they eased past the Canaries on 22 January.

However, nothing impressed Dorigo more than the cross Solomon, who opened the scoring just 31 seconds into the game, played from the left-hand side in the danger area, describing it as “excellent”.

“What a finish, what a finish that is”, Dorigo said live on LUTV (22 January, 9:09 pm).

“Excellent play actually initially from [Junior] Firpo down the left-hand side to break away, and eventually it comes out to Solomon.

“It’s an excellent cross, pinpoint from this left-hand side and goes all the way through, the angle is tight as well.

“Here’s where it didn’t go out, the first chance was for [Brenden] Aaronson. [Kellen] Fisher decides to keep it in, that was a mistake, but what about this ball? Superb.

“And then, [James with a] side foot back across the keeper, hard and low.

“Just look at Angus Gunn, he takes his weight from that post over there, he’s going back the other way, and before he can get down it’s past him, great finish from Dan James.”

Manor Solomon undroppable for Daniel Farke at Leeds United

Solomon, who is on loan at Leeds United from Tottenham, had a slow start to his time at Elland Road, taking nine games to score his first Championship goal.

However, the 25-year-old is quickly becoming undroppable for Daniel Farke, having bagged two goals and as many assists in the Whites’ last three league games.

While Solomon’s assist for James’ goal left Dorigo amazed, the attacker also deserves credit for the goal he scored early on in the game.

Although James made things easier for him by putting the ball on a plate for him, the Spurs loanee did exceptionally well to find the back of the net with a first-touch finish.

Not everyone will be pleased with Solomon’s form as Wilfried Gnonto and Largie Ramazani will certainly be frustrated with their lack of playing time.

However, the competition for places, especially in attacking positions, definitely bodes well for Leeds United as they aim to keep their place at the top of the Championship table until the end of the season and earn automatic promotion.
