Tony Cascarino raises new Dominic Calvert-Lewin theory after latest Leeds exploits

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been in the headlines for all the right reasons at Leeds recently.

Calvert-Lewin took his Leeds tally to seven in the 4-1 win over Crystal Palace, with two first-half goals that put the Whites in a commanding position.

It has been a remarkable turnaround for the striker, with the Leeds man potentially earning his way back into England contention for the World Cup next summer.

Now, a reason for his uptick in form has been mooted live on air after he made it six goals in his last five games at Elland Road.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin change mooted after Leeds scenes

Calvert-Lewin’s impact at Leeds has been brilliant, helping the Peacocks climb up the table and continue their fight for survival.

Tony Cascarino believes that the former Everton striker must be spending less time in the gym, and that is why he has been less injury-prone and able to hit this kind of red-hot form and is desperate to find out from the man himself.

The ex-Chelsea forward raised his theory on talkSPORT on 21 December, saying: “I don’t know, I’d love to know, I’d love to ask him, have you changed your training programme at Leeds, have you kept away from that gym?

“One thing that players do all the time, if they’re injured, they are always in the gym to keep fit.”

Why Leeds are in pole position for Premier League survival

The LS11 outfit needed victory over Palace, they now have a six-point buffer over West Ham, who occupy the final relegation spot.

With Calvert-Lewin in this sort of form, there is every chance that he can keep them away from the drop zone and ensure that they stay in the division.

Whatever the 28-year-old is doing right now, he must continue, as it is clearly having the desired effect, on and off the pitch, after years of misery for the forward.

He can fire the Whites to safety, and prove that he still has what it takes at the top-level of the game after the Yorkshire outfit took a chance on him in the summer.

It will prove to be a brilliant gamble if they end up reinforcing their top-flight status, which looks very likely at the moment.
