‘Boom’, ‘Fantastic’ – These Leeds fans react to latest twist in automatic promotion race
Every game involving the top-four is absolutely crucial now and Leeds United fans were glued to the 5pm kick-off between West Brom and Fulham today.
Tomorrow is Brentford and then Leeds get to play last, as usual.
This Leeds fan summed it up pretty well.
West Brom, who started the game three points behind Leeds, could have gone top with a big enough win.
However, they didn’t show a huge amount of attacking intent in the first half and that ended 0-0.
Fulham had to win and that would have suited Leeds fans, but they were pretty happy with a draw – that takes Fulham out of the top-two equation for good.
It would leave West Brom two points behind Leeds at the top with two games to go. Leeds would then have their game against Barnsley in hand.
This was the reaction from Leeds fans at half-time of the game.
It was more of the same in the second half, although West Brom started to get on top.
Grady Diangana missed a glorious chance but then Athhony Knockaert thundered a looping shot against the bar on the 70-minute mark.
And then the game petered out again. And while the Leeds fans weren’t bothered in the slightest at the lack of action, some wondered how we were still in a battle with them.
In the end, neither team could find a goal and Fulham will be resigned to the fact that it’s almost certainly the play-offs for them now.
It means it’s two from three with Leeds in absolute pole position. If Brentford don’t win tomorrow then Leeds will get to play for the Premier League on Thursday.
One word: scenes.
