These Leeds fans unhappy with one player despite win v Birmingham
Strikers are judged on goals and the simple fact is that Patrick Bamford hasn’t scored since August. That’s a real problem for Leeds.
He blanked again today and plenty of Leeds fans have lost patience with him.
That doesn’t tell the whole story in the 1-0 win against Birmingham, though.
Leeds absolutely dominated the first half of the game this afternoon and although the winning goal came in the second half, after Bamford was taken off and Eddie Nketiah introduced, it’s fair to say that Birmingham came back strong.
Leeds lost control of the game and part of that has to go down to the loss of Bamford, who holds the ball up brilliantly.
It will be fascinating to see what Bielsa does on Tuesday now, with a trip to Preston the next test for his Leeds side.
It’s really hard to see how he can keep Nketiah on the bench but will he want to drop Bamford? Bielsa admitted after the game that he wasn’t happy with the way Leeds saw the game out and he might find some way to justify naming another unchanged line-up.
That wouldn’t please these Leeds fans and the burning question has to be whether Bielsa can come up with a system that would accommodate both players.
That’s for Tuesday… In the meantime, here are some of the negative reactions towards Bamford after his 45-minute contribution this afternoon.
