'Terrible' - Some Leeds fans tear into 'Weakest player' for performance in 4-3 loss v Liverpool

A section of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to slam Pablo Hernandez for his performance in the 4-3 defeat away at Liverpool on Saturday.

Hernandez, 35, made his first Premier League appearance in six years when he took to the pitch at Anfield after Marcelo Bielsa named the ex-Swansea ace to start in the Leeds midfield.

Although he’s been one of the stand-out players for Leeds while Bielsa has been in charge, the veteran Spaniard did little to impress supporters as the Whites narrowly lost on Merseyside to the reigning Premier League champions.

Stats by WyScout show that Hernandez completed just 58 per cent of his passes at Anfield this weekend and lost possession 13 times.

The attacking midfielder also managed just one touch inside the home side’s penalty area, didn’t assist any shots and failed to complete any dribbles before he was substituted off just after the hour mark.

It wasn’t a Pablo classic and Leeds fans on social media have made it very clear that was the case.

But you have to consider the age of Hernandez and the fact playing against the likes of Reading, Barnsley and Luton every week is a bit different to playing Premier League champions Liverpool.

We have sympathy for Hernandez and we don’t like seeing him criticised but we do understand why these supporters weren’t totally pleased by his display.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Not many of Leeds’ players underperformed against Liverpool and we hope that after this baptism of fire, things will only get better and players like Hernandez will start to find their feet.
